La Dispute - Here Hear 3

http://andtothegloriouspast.files.wordpress.com/2009/12/4180256583_50f054f36a_b.jpg

Happy Holidays.
I have a wonderful treat for you today.

La Dispute has recently released 2 new new ep's; Here Hear 3, and a Winter Tour CD-R.
Instead of posting links to download I'm giving the link the band made themselves to do it.
They are accepting donations to a charity called Well House Community Living which you can read about on their own blog.
Enjoy.

So here they are. The rest of them -well actually, most of the rest of them, some I just couldn't find.

Guest Post Numero Uno

Hello all you music enthusiasts and pirates of the interwebs.

I figured this blog needs some help, so I'm guest posting some of the best albums of the past few months.

Enjoy.

First off, we have probably one of the best bands of the last 2 years. Behold:

BARONESS

Their newest effort, Blue Record is a masterpiece. Heavy enough to thrash about to, but with enough depth to get it stuck in your head and have you fall in love.

Baroness - Blue Record

Next up, we have the one. the only. CONVERGE

If you don't know who converge are, you probably shouldn't be here. But that's ok... everyone needs to start the awesome train somewhere; this is a pretty good place to start.

Converge's newest album (despite it being something like their 8th full length) is fucking shred-tacular. It also has a lot of guest musicians on it, which you can definitely feel coming through on a number of songs, which rules (guests include Cave-In, Disfear, Neurosis and Genghis Tron).

Converge - Axe To Fall

And last, for this post, is some good ol' punk fucking rock.

Propagandhi are probably the most important Canadian punk rock group. Ever. And their newest release, Supporting Caste is a good indication of why. (and this image: pure win)

Propagandhi - Supporting Caste

Now, I've shared these albums with you to get a taste, but if you like this BUY THE FUCKING ALBUMS. SUPPORT YOUR BANDS!

After the Burial

It's like a 100 person circle pit with chainsaws.
Like Mohamed Ali throwing hay makers and wearing brass knuckles.

This is metal with the dirtiest fucking breakdowns in the metalcore genre.
I saw these guys at The Summer Slaughter Tour in Toronto over the summer. They destroyed the place.

The kick drums, the slap bass, and the shredding guitar.
Throw down with a fucking crowbar.
Two step, but wear steel toed boots.

Forgiving a Future Self (2006)

Rareform (2008)

Union of Uranus - To This Bearer of Truth

http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/252/3476022.jpg
This will be the last of my Ottawa posts for the time being. These guys did some killer "dark and gloomy" screamo back in the 90's and had a damn solid drummer. You can definitely hear a metal influence in their stuff.
Another influential band for BI and FTF.

One Eyed God Phophecy - Discography

One Eyed God Prophecy played sludgy hardcore like Buried Inside and guess what?
They are from Ottawa, were around in the mid 90's, and so came before Buried Inside. You should be able to hear the influence.
Also a notable influence on Orchid so check it out.

dl

Buried Inside

Keeping with the Ottawa theme. I saw these guys play about a year back in a small sweaty bedroom. They really know how to bring the pain.
Quintessential sludge, their lyrics are definately worth paying attention too.

In and of the Self (1999)
Suspect Symmetry (2001)
Chronoclast (2005)
Spoils of Failure (2009)

Enjoy.

Fuck the Facts

From Ottawa.
That little vixen will tear you apart.
Beware this packs a punch.

(oh and the 3rd track on Disgorge Mexico is called Kelowna)

Legacy of Hopelessness (2005)
Stigmata High-Five (2006)
Split with Leng Tch'e (2008)
Disgorge Mexico (2008)

From Ottawa. Abrasive, great riffs. I can listen to this all day.

Transistor Transistor

This one is important.

Erase All Names and Likeness (2005)

Ruined Lives (2008)

Refused - This Just Might Be the Truth

http://userserve-ak.last.fm/serve/_/313475/Refused.gif

One more from Sweden.
Straightedge, vegan, 90's, the like.

Pump the brakes

Abhinanda

Vegan. Straightedge. Hardcore. Damn these guys did it all in Sweden in the 90's.
Listen up because a reunion is in the works.

Darkness of Ignorance - 1993
Senseless - 1994
Neverending Well of Bliss - 1995
Abhinanda - 1996
Rumble – 1998

Last Lights - No Past, No Present, No Future

A band that can never be again.
For Kiba.

Katja - Discography

For the drunken misguided summers of 14 and 15. For being a gateway.
For me.

dl

Stick to Your Guns - For What it's Worth

because sometimes you have to stand up for yourself.

dl
Put the 7th track to eleven.

Orchid - Totality

First and foremost. A band that defined a genre.
